Program – Celebration and Fundraising Event

You can expect a top-class entertainment program with cultural performances, voices of those affected by sepsis, and doctors as well as supporters of our common cause from politics, the media, and outstanding supporters and foundations under the patronage of the German Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.

The evening will be musically accompanied by ‘Bassball & Friends’, featuring Diane Weigmann and Momo Djender as singers. Internationally active musicians, composers, and music producers based in Berlin, complemented by a singer whose voice you already know from radio and television, will accompany you through the evening. The evening program will be moderated by Dr. med. Joern Ole Vollert, a border crosser between music and medicine.

We are proud and grateful for the many guests who will raise their voices for our fight against sepsis this evening. Look forward to our guests of honor, among them are representatives from the German Ministry of Health, the embassies of the G7 countries, and the WHO like Rudi Eggers, Director of Integrated Health Services. Join us in humbly welcoming those affected by sepsis who, despite this terrible blow, have made the best of the situation and tirelessly devote so much of their energy to our common cause – for example, Ciarán Staunton, co-founder of ‘End Sepsis’ and Joachim Greuner, who recently lost his beloved wife and unborn child. Historical information on Gustav Mahler, presented by Ernst Rietschel, shows how dramatically sepsis has already preoccupied artists and researchers in the past century.

Experience how the Sepsis Stiftung and the Global Sepsis Alliance tirelessly promote new projects to advance education, research, and healthcare. On the occasion of 10 years of World Sepsis Day, we would like to focus especially on the concerns of children. Let us surprise you…

The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Global Sepsis Awards. Among them is a ‘group’, which will contribute decisively to the sustainable improvement of the chapter against sepsis – this much we can reveal.

We are happy and grateful that we can inspire so many prominent actors from all walks of life for our cause. We want to celebrate this together. Thank you for being our guests for this year’s World Sepsis Day Event.

The dress code for the evening is “Business Casual”. Changing rooms and lockers are available at the venue. Please note that it can get a bit chilly in Berlin in the middle of September, please prepare accordingly.

We will follow all COVID‐19 regulations by the state of Berlin that are in effect at the time of the event. Additionally, for the safety of all our participants and guests, including sepsis survivors, please understand that it is mandatory to undergo COVID-19 testing at the event venue. The test will be provided free of charge by our sponsor Abionic via a saliva swab. Currently, no masks are required. Most of the event will take place outside, weather permitting.
